Comparative studies

The photocatalytic efficiency of FN ® coatings for organic decomposition or conversion of various kinds of substances and for the destruction of microorganisms has been tested and verified by a number of specialized workplaces in the Czech Republic and abroad. These tests confirmed the extremely strong photocatalytic efficiency of FN ® coatings, which outperforms other photocatalytic coatings on the world market.

Differences in efficiency between FN ® functional coatings  and competing products have also been confirmed by comparative studies in which selected paints were compared by an independent research organization based on laboratory tests on the same equipment and applying the same test conditions and procedures (according to ISO standards). Comparative studies have confirmed the high efficiency of FN ® coatings.

The names of competing products and firms are blackened in the study text so that the provisions of the Competition Act (143/2001 Coll.) are not violated.

Commercial Photocatalytic Coatings: Air Purification Technology

Quotation from the study: A comparative study of various commercial TiO2 based products showed that the individual products varied greatly in the photocatalytic efficiency of nitrogen oxides removal. The decrease in NOx concentration was significantly reduced by all (Protectam) FN ® series photocatalytic coatings . The effectiveness of other coatings was lower, some so great that they could not be practically used as effective air purification technology from nitrogen oxides.”

Comparison of photocatalytic activity of four samples

Protocol of photocatalytic activity testing of Aeroxide ® TiO 2 P 25 samples (Evonik Industries, pure active nanomaterial TiO2 -industrial-recognized standard), Protectam FN ® 2 (Advanced Materials-JTJ sro) and two coats of Czech manufacturer, for which photocatalytic effects are declared . One coat for interior (interior) and another for exterior (exterior).

 The results of the tests of photocatalytic activity of individual samples show that the tested interior and exterior samples showed no photocatalytic activity:

  • P 25    12%    (absolute value is 100%)
  • FN ® 2  10%  (absolute value is 84.6 %)
  • Sample European competitor product for Interior application 0%   – did not register
  • Sample European competitor product for Exterior application  0%  – did not register

The above tests were done in scientific testing situations. All products cannot be named due to Czech law preventing the exposure of competitor products without permission.
